Psychiatric NP – Adult Mental Health & Substance Use Treatment (Locums) New

An inpatient behavioral health program located south of Savannah, GA is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner for locum tenens coverage. Providers will support adult patients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders while working as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.

This role includes admissions, discharges, medication management, and participation in weekly care meetings. Providers typically manage 12–16 adult patients per day and collaborate closely with psychiatrists, therapists, nursing leadership, and behavioral health technicians. Full-time or part-time schedules can be accommodated, with flexible call options based on provider preference.

Ideal for PMHNPs who are comfortable in an inpatient environment and able to contribute to a team-based model focused on stabilization and quality of care.

What You’ll Do

• Conduct psychiatric evaluations for adult inpatients

• Manage daily medication checks & treatment adjustments

• Oversee admissions, discharges, and ongoing stabilization

• Participate in weekly interdisciplinary treatment team meetings

• Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, nursing leaders & BHTs

• Document accurately in compliance with facility protocols

• Manage a caseload of 12–16 patients per day

• Treat individuals with co-occurring mental health + substance use disorders

• Provide prescriptive management with full authority

Assignment Details

• Full-time day shifts (40 hrs/wk)

• Part-time availability considered

• Average LOS: 5–7 days

• Census: ~18 patients

• On-call: negotiable

• Start date: ASAP – ongoing

Qualifications

• Active Georgia PMHNP license

• Board certification required

• 1–3 years of psychiatry experience preferred

• Comfort managing adult inpatient populations

• Strong collaborative and communication skills
